I normally arrive early and check in with Kate to discuss the teams’ priorities for the day. Any technical issues are highlighted and an action plan for resolution agreed on.
Then its upstairs to my office where after checking my emails I prioritise my daily tasks, leaving time for any expected challenges that may occur throughout the day.
The team normally start arriving 30 mins later so after a quick catch up I start on my tasks.
My role is quite varied, so no 2 days are the same for me!!! From conducting staff technical training, designing/ modifying test rigs, fault find and repair of returned damaged PCB’s, to meeting new potential clients (and more) are all possibilities on any given day.
Today though, I am running through a PCB program ensuring that the test procedure is up to date and correct as a few changes were instigated by our customer. Any modifications are recorded, implemented and the procedure ‘up rev’ed’ ready for the teams use.
After a quick lunch it’s back to my emails. I’m checking to see if there are any technical bulletins I need to address or anything else needing my input.
For my next task I have a PCB to inspect. Although some of the team are IPC-A-610 qualified, I still take a random number of PCB’s from different stages of production for a more thorough inspection as part of our Quality control process.
Checking the assembled PCB against the BOM and by measuring between certain points I am verifying the boards integrity back to the design. I am happy to report there are no issues with this board.
After this I am back to my office where I need to prepare for a meeting with one of our electronic designers. We will be clarifying our customers specification on a new PCB before the design is submitted back to the customer for approval.
My day is complete, only thing left is to shut down my PC, check my office is tidy before leaving.
