Ryan R: Production Technician

07:50

I always aim to arrive ten minutes early so I can set myself up for the day, I like to get a nice hot cup of tea or coffee to prepare myself for the day ahead.

I’m starting my day off today by completing some assembly procedure’s. As specific jobs come into production I’m tasked to ensure that procedures are up to date and completed which includes taking pictures of each process and checking no stages are missed. It is important to make sure that anyone is able understand the procedure and able to complete the specific job at hand from its steps.

12:00

Time for a cheeky lunch – nothing much today just a can of coke. I spend this time relaxing and having a catch up with other colleagues on things that have happened over the week and weekend just passed.

With lunch over and a fresh cup of coffee to keep me going I move onto working with looms. I read the procedure first to refresh myself on the job then follow the steps given. We can make looms with just a couple of wires and connectors to great big ones that use a 26 core cable with different cores needing different measures like stripping, tinning or crimping. Working with different types of looms is interesting and I always ensure my work is to the high standard of quality expected.

16:50

Now time for some end of the day cleaning. I stop working on my looms, or whatever job I might be on that day, ten minutes before I finish so I can spend the last slot of the day ensuring my desk is clean ready for the next day. I check that everything is unplugged and turned off, all machines are covered with a sheet and the floor has been swept.

17:00

With a productive and successful day completed it’s time to go home wishing everyone a good evening before I leave.
