Tonia: Production Technician
07:40
I always arrive into work early as I like to have a cuppa before the day starts. I check in with Will and he tells me what I am going to be doing that morning. I prepare my desk, making sure my area is clean and tidy ready to start for 8am.
08:00
Today I’m assembling PCBs with through-hole components. I start by masking the holes on the boards that will not have any components in. The masking will protect and keep the holes clear when going through the wave soldering machine. Whilst the masking is drying, I get all the components ready. Any components that need pre-forming I process.
11:00
At 11am I have a 5-minute break in which time I make a coffee and quickly refresh.
11:05
I begin assembling the PCBs; this can be a long job depending on the order. Sometimes I am asked to do smaller jobs that maybe urgent in between the current job I am working on.
13:00
At 1pm we have lunch, I sit outside in the sun when I can and enjoy the fresh air. 20 minutes later and it’s back to work, assembling more PCBs ?.
15:00
Break at 3pm, more coffee and a leg stretch!
On a Friday I give the workplace, kitchen and toilet area a clean already for a fresh start Monday morning. I also like to check on the flowers outside and water them if necessary (they don’t call me Charlie Dymock for nothing!).
17:00
Another good, productive day over, it’s time to go home.
