At A Squared Technologies, we’re firm believers that you never stop learning — especially in electronics manufacturing!

Technology moves quickly, standards evolve and while our team has many years of experience between them, it’s important to keep that knowledge fresh.

That’s why members of the A Squared team have been getting their heads back into the books (and their hands back onto the boards!) as they complete their IPC certification and re-certification in IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721.

Why IPC Certification Matters

IPC-A-610 is one of the most widely recognised standards for the acceptability of electronic assemblies. It covers everything from solder connections and component positioning to workmanship and inspection criteria.

IPC-7711/7721 focuses on the rework, modification and repair of electronic assemblies – particularly important when carrying out component replacement and specialist PCB rework and repair.

For our team these aren’t simply certificates to put on the wall. IPC standards form part of how we approach PCB assembly and electronics manufacturing every day.

Why Re-Certify?

Even with years of experience, regular training and re-certification are important.

They give our team an opportunity to refresh their knowledge, revisit techniques and keep up to date with current industry requirements.

It also means everyone is working from the same recognised standards rather than falling into the trap of:

“Well, that’s how I’ve always done it!”

Consistency matters – particularly when our customers trust us with their electronics.

Investing in Our Team

We love investing in new manufacturing equipment at A Squared, but the people using it are just as important.

Keeping our team’s IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/7721 knowledge current is another way we invest in our people, our processes and the quality of the products we manufacture.

After more than 40 years in electronics, have we finished learning?

Not a chance!

So, well done to the team on getting stuck into their latest IPC re-certification — refreshing their knowledge, sharpening their skills and probably discussing more solder joints than most people would consider entirely normal!

Thank you to Paul from STEM Training for his guidance and knowledge – and cringe worthy dad jokes!
